Education played a major role this year. Workshops focused on traditional crafts, language basics, and history. These sessions allowed team members to gain a deeper understanding of their colleagues’ backgrounds, fostering a more empathetic and inclusive work environment. Why It Matters for Game Development
In the fast-paced world of game development, where deadlines and technical hurdles often take center stage, Funcom has carved out a unique space for community and culture through its "Utsav" initiative. Now in its seventh iteration, has become more than just a corporate event; it is a vibrant manifestation of the studio’s global identity and a testament to the diverse talents that power titles like Conan Exiles , Dune: Awakening , and Metal: Hellsinger . What is My Utsav?
Funcom is home to artists, musicians, and storytellers. My Utsav 7 provided a stage for these creators to shine outside of their professional roles. Whether it was an indie folk performance by a lead programmer or a digital art gallery featuring personal projects from the environment team, the talent showcase highlighted the raw passion that fuels the studio's games. 3. Cultural Workshops
My Utsav 7: The Evolution of Funcom’s Cultural Celebration
As My Utsav 7 draws to a close, the energy within Funcom remains high. The event has once again proven that while the studio is spread across different continents, it operates as a single, cohesive unit.
One of the most beloved aspects of My Utsav 7 was the culinary exchange. Employees from across the globe shared recipes and hosted virtual and in-person cooking demonstrations. From traditional Norwegian seafood to spicy Portuguese delicacies, the event turned the studio into a melting pot of flavors, proving that food is the ultimate universal language. 2. Talent Showcases
The word "Utsav" originates from Sanskrit, meaning "festival" or "celebration." At Funcom, this concept was adopted to bridge the gap between its various international offices—spanning Oslo, Lisbon, Raleigh, Stockholm, and Bucharest.
